TAE 125-02-114 (Thielert TAE 125-02-114 / Centurion 2.0S)

Technify Motors GmbH (Continental Aerospace Technologies)

155 HP / 114 kW

In-line 4-cylinder, 4-stroke, liquid-cooled, turbocharged diesel engine with DOHC, direct fuel injection and common-rail technology. Operates on an efficient compression-ignition cycle (18:1 compression ratio). Unlike legacy AVGAS engines, it features no magnetos, no spark plugs, no carburetor, no mixture control, and no propeller lever.

Engine Physical Characteristics
Displacement:1991 cm³ (1.99 Liters / 121.5 cu in)
Max Takeoff Power:114 kW (155 HP) at 2300 Propeller RPM (100% Load)
Max Crankshaft RPM:3890 RPM (crankshaft maximum speed)
Gearbox Ratio:i = 1.69 (Integral reduction gearbox reducing 3890 crankshaft RPM down to 2300 propeller RPM, equipped with mechanical torsional vibration damper and overload release clutch)
Cruise Settings:Max Cruise: 85% Load | Economic Cruise: 70% Load
MT-Propeller MTV-6-A/190-69

• Model: MTV-6-A/190-69 (MT-Propeller Entwicklung GmbH)

• Blades & Diameter: 3 blades, 1.90 m (74.8 inches)

• Construction: High-strength wood-composite core wrapped in fiber-reinforced composite with bonded stainless steel leading-edge erosion sheath

• Pitch Governing: Variable-pitch, constant-speed propeller governed electro-hydraulically by FADEC using gearbox engine oil pressure

Oil pressure drives blades toward low pitch / high RPM (feathering spring & counterweights drive blades toward high pitch / low RPM in absence of oil pressure)

DGCA Viva Spotlight:Cold starts use 4 electric glow plugs. The reduction gearbox (i = 1.69) ensures the propeller turns at a quiet, aerodynamically optimal 2300 RPM while the diesel engine turns at 3890 RPM.

Critical POH Emergency Checklists & Memory Items

Engine Failure In-Flight (Glide & Relight Drill)
  • 1. Airspeed: Establish Best Glide immediately — 73 KIAS (clean)
  • 2. Single Power Lever: Retard to approx 50%
  • 3. Fuel Selector Valve: Switch to fuller wing tank
  • 4. Electric Fuel Pump: ON
  • 5. FADEC Test Knob: Depress for 2 seconds to force ECU channel reset
  • 6. Engine Master / Starter: Engage starter key if propeller has windmilled to stop
  • 7. If relight unsuccessful below 1000 ft AGL: Prepare for forced landing; Flaps 40°; Master OFF before touchdown
Alternator Failure (ALT Warning Light Active)
  • 1. Check Alternator Circuit Breaker: In
  • 2. Alternator Switch: Cycle OFF, wait 5 seconds, switch ON
  • 3. If reset fails: Shed non-essential electrical loads (Avionics Bus 2, Pitot Heat if VMC, Cabin lights)
  • 4. Verify FADEC Backup Battery: Connected / Armed
  • 5. Divert and land within 30 to 40 minutes (Battery endurance limit)
Dual FADEC Warning (FADEC A & B Illuminated)
  • 1. Maintain control of aircraft: Pitch for 73 KIAS
  • 2. Do NOT make rapid Single Power Lever adjustments
  • 3. Land as soon as possible: Both redundant channels impaired
  • 4. Select nearest suitable aerodrome or forced landing area immediately
